The 2012 gymnastics team was honored at the annual banquet on Sunday afternoon at Maggiano's in Bellevue.

Sophomore Aliza Vaccher (Eugene, Ore.) represented the University of Washington very well at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships Friday night in Duluth, Ga. Vaccher finished 20th in session 2 in the all-around with a 38.925.

For the second-straight year, sophomore Aliza Vaccher (Eugene, Ore.) qualified in the all-around for the NCAA National Championships after finishing fourth at the Seattle Regional with a 39.225.

This Regional features highly talented teams and individuals, including the reigning national champions Alabama, LSU, Arizona and UW, who are all ranked, Iowa and Central Michigan and individual qualifiers.

The No. 1 seed in Seattle is Alabama who won the 2011 National Championship. LSU is the second seed, followed by Arizona, Washington, Iowa and Central Michigan.

Due to a career-ending injury, senior Anna Epps from the UW Gymnastics team is not able to compete this year but still travels with the team and has embraced her student coaching position. Epps will blog during the road trips to give fans a behind the scenes view into the team.
