Sounders U23 schedule announced

Earlier this month, the Sounders FC announced the club’s first Homegrown Player signing in defender DeAndre Yedlin. The Sounders FC Academy product also played one season with the Sounders FC U23 team, playing every minute for the Tacoma-based club last summer.

Any plans to get an early look at more possible Homegrown Player signings can now be put on the calendar as earlier this week the Sounders FC U23 schedule was announced.

The Sounders will open the 2013 campaign on May 16 at Portland’s JELD-WEN Field and close the season on the road against the Timbers as well on July 16.

In between, the 14-game season will include two matches at Starfire Stadium, one at Tumwater High School and four home matches at Sumner High School’s Sunset Stadium.

After opening the season with two road matches, the Sounders U23s will play six straight home games, starting with a May 24 tilt against the Kitsap Pumas at Sunset Stadium.  Two matches against Crossfire will take place at Starfire Stadium on May 31 and June 15.  For the second straight season the U23s will host the Timbers at Tumwater High School, providing a great atmosphere at the stadium that is nearly equidistant between the two cities.
