Sounders FC U23s earn Open Cup berth
The Sounders FC U23 team is just one year into play in the Premier Developmental League, but has already earned a spot in the 2013 US Open Cup.
After finishing first in the Northwest Division at 11-2-3 last summer, Seattle earned an automatic berth, along with the Portland Timbers U23s. The Sounders FC U23 team featured several products of the Sounders FC Academy system who were back in the area after playing their college seasons.
In addition to that news, the Sounders U23 team was also presented with the PDL Progress Award for the 2012 season at the USL Annual General Meeting over the weekend.
