MLS signs 4 to Generation adidas class
The MLS SuperDraft is fast approaching and on Thursday, the league announced the addition of four players to the draft class with the signing of three NSCAA All-Americans and a Jamaican National Team forward to the 20013 Generation adidas class.
Defenders Walker Zimmerman and Andrew Farrell, midfielder Mikey Lopez and forward Jason Johnson will join the draft-eligible college seniors in the SuperDraft on January 17, with additional GA players to be announced at a later date.
Zimmerman, 19, had six goals and three assists as a sophomore at Furman University to bring his career totals to 11 goals and five assists. The 6-foot-3 center back is a regular contributor of the US U-20 National Team.
Farrell, 20, finished 2012 with four goals and one assist in his junior season at Louisville. The 5-foot-11 center back has also played in a defensive midfield role for the Cardinals and was a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist in 2012.
Lopez, 19, had five goals and five assists in two seasons for North Carolina, helping them to the 2011 NCAA National Championship when he was the ACC Freshman of the Year.
Johnson, 21, had 28 goals and 10 assists in three seasons with Virginia Commonwealth and earned a call-up with the Jamaican National Team in 2010. In his sophomore season, he exploded for 11 goals, following that up with 13 goals and six assists as a junior.
The Sounders hold the 16th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, to be held this year in Indianapolis, Indiana.
