Lindpere on the move

One of the league’s most consistent midfielders in recent years will change teams in the East and the Impact added another Italian last week in another quietly busy day in MLS on Friday.

The New York Red Bulls continued their makeover, sending midfielder Joel Lindpere to the Chicago Fire on Friday in exchange for an international roster slot.  He has 15 goals and 18 assists in three MLS seasons, missing just one match in three years since coming to the Red Bulls.  Last year, he played in 34 matches and had five goals and five assists.

The move marks the 14th departure from the New York roster since the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the Impact made their first addition of the off-season in picking up midfielder Andrea Pisanu on loan from Italy’s Bologna, adding a player of Italian pedigree that already includes three Italians in Designated Player Marco Di Vaio at forward and defenders Matteo Ferrari and Alessandro Nesta.

In the West, Real Salt Lake inked defender Lovel Palmer to a contract after selecting him in last month’s Re-Entry Draft.
