In their final edition of MLS Positional Rankings, Soccer America rated Sounders FC goalkeeper Michael Gspurning second among the Top 10 goalkeepers in the league.

Gspurning finished the 2012 season, his first in MLS, with a 0.73 goals against average for the best mark in the league, but was second in the rankings behind Sporting Kansas City’s Jimmy Nielsen, who also earned the league’s Goalkeeper of the Year award after leading SKC to the top defense this season.

The Seattle shot-stopper finished third in voting for the league’s top goalkeeper honor behind Nielsen and Chivas USA’s Dan Kennedy, but Soccer America had Kennedy rated No. 10 in the league.  Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake), Andy Gruenebaum (Columbus Crew) and Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo) rounded out the top five.
