Generation adidas class finalized with two forwards
Tomorrow starts the 2013 adidas MLS Player Combine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and on Thursday the league announced the signing of two more Generation adidas players as well as invitations for four youth international players who will look to impress at the Combine.
Forwards Deshorn Brown and Kekuta Manneh joined the Generation adidas class, filling out the 2013 group of seven players.
Brown, 22, had 13 goals and three assists in his junior season at Central Florida after two standout seasons at the University of Mobile of the NAIA. There, he was a two-time NAIA All-American selection after posting 53 goals over the two seasons.
Manneh, 18, comes to MLS after playing club soccer in Texas. Born in Gambia, he would take up an international roster slot, as would the Jamaican-born Brown.
In addition, the league has invited four youth international players – Colombian midfielder Franco Donado, Honduran midfielder Junior Padilla, Brazilian midfielder Stefano Pinho and Ecuadoran midfielder Kevin Mercado. At 17 years old, Mercado will be the youngest player at the Combine.
Seventy-two players will take part in the Combine ahead of next Thursday’s SuperDraft. The Sounders pick 16th and 35th in the Draft, which will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana
