Five locals on MLS Player Combine list
Major League Soccer announced the college seniors who invited to the 2013 adidas MLS Player Combine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the list features several players with ties to the Seattle area.
The Combine, which is the final look for the 19 MLS teams before the January 17 MLS SuperDraft in Indianapolis, Indiana, will run from January 11-15 and features 54 invited college seniors.
The list includes University of Washington midfielders Ben Fisk (Federal Way) and Dylan Tucker-Gangnes (Bainbridge Island), as well as UCLA’s Fernando Monge (Seattle), UCSB’s Machael David (Tacoma/Gig Harbor) and Wake Forest’s Danny Wenzel (Federal Way).
Tucker-Gangnes led the Huskies with eight goals in his senior season, giving him 15 goals and nine assists while splitting time between midfield and defense.
Fisk had three goals and three assists as a senior, adding to his one assist in 17 matches in 2011 after transferring from Cal Poly after his sophomore season.
Monge had five goals and one assist for the Bruins as a senior. The midfielder and forward tallied nine goals and four assists in 67 career matches in four years at UCLA. He also scored five goals in 15 matches for the Sounders FC U23 team over the summer.
David had three goals and 10 assists from the midfield over four seasons with the Gauchos, notching one goal and one assist in 11 matches as a senior.
Wenzel, a defender, had one goal and one assist in 18 matches as a senior to give him six goals and six assists in 75 career matches.
