DC parts ways with DP Salihi

Just days after acquiring forward Carlos Ruiz in the Allocation, DC United has parted ways with another forward, Albanian Designated Player Hamdi Salihi.  The club announced that Salihi would not be part of the 2013 squad on Wednesday, presumably buying out the contract of the 29-year-old forward who had six goals in 22 matches for DC in 2012, though he started in just ten matches.

Along with Ruiz, DC also added Brazilian DP forward Rafael and former Chivas USA forward Casey Townsend in the off-season, building something of a logjam at forward, where they already had Lionard Pajoy and had used Chris Pontius at times in 2012.
