2013 All-Star Game at Livestrong Sporting Park
On Thursday, Major League Soccer announced that 18,467-seat Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas, would host the 2013 MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 31.
The three-day event will feature a “renowned international club,” as it has in the past several years when the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton came over from England for the exhibition.
The match will be broadcast live at 5:30 pm Pacific on the ESPN family of networks, though the exact network will be announced at a later date.
The Sounders have had six different players named to the All-Star Game in their four years, with Fredy Montero, Freddie Ljungberg, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Kasey Keller all playing in the 2009 match in Salt Lake City against Everton. Since then, Osvaldo Alonso and Eddie Johnson have also earned All-Star nods, with Johnson scoring the game-winning goal in last year’s match in a 3-2 win over Chelsea at PPL Park in Philadelphia.
