Seahawks: Pete Carroll Third Highest Paid Coach In American Sports

Well, new Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is already amongst elite company in his return to the NFL– and he hasn’t even played a game with his new team yet.

I could of taken a wild guess his $7 million annual salary was one of the highest salaries…

But third?

Paul Allen and Tod Leiweke really really wanted Jim Mora gone.

Sitting behind Bill Belichick, Carroll is making the same $7 million annual salary that new Washington coach Mike Shanahan is making.

Overall, including all major American sports, Carroll ranks third amongst coaches salaries, behind Bellichick and Laker’s coach Phil Jackson, and tied with Shanahan and Bobcats coach Larry Brown for third.

He has the least overall professional pedigree amongst these names, but he is certainly in the elite class as far as what he accomplished at USC; maybe not three Super Bowl or 10 NBA title elite, but certainly on the next tier.

It should be noted, that three of the top five on this list, Carroll, Shanahan, and Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown, recently signed on to pilot new teams– just like free agents, the salaries are often lucrative to ensure you land the guy you want.
